....Barbara Dawson has been going to, giving and running garage, estate and moving sales since she arrived in California more than 30 years ago. In New York City , where she was born and raised, she and husband, Tom, usually spent the better part of their Saturdays “antique-ing” up and down Second and Third Avenues. Tom, a realtor with Sotheby's International Realty, introduced her to the garage sale “phenomenon” her first week in L.A. She was hooked. When she wasn't going to them, she was giving her own or helping friends do theirs. She started her garage sale business full time professionally in late 1996. She placed an ad announcing her service in her local newspaper. The next day, she had six phone calls. Her phone hasn't stopped ringing since.

....We do estate, moving and garage sales throughout the greater Los Angeles area, but particularly on the West Side—Pacific Palisades, Malibu , Brentwood and Santa Monica . We call ourselves Garage Sale Specialists because, as our motto suggests: “In every estate, there is a garage. And in every garage, there is a treasure.” And, treasures, by the way, don't have to be valuable. Just salable! Not everybody has a house full of antiques, art, silver, crystal and collectibles. We have the flexibility and expertise to handle all kinds of sales, large and small. We thrive on variety!

....Ours is a total turn-key operation. We do the labor, start to finish. We will come into your home, work out the sale-area logistics with you; research, clean, display, market and price all items for sale; merchandise, advertise and conduct the sale. After the sale, we will itemize unsold merchandise, pack it up for storage and/or charitable donation and provide you with a written record for your personal file and/or possible tax-deductible purposes. The client has no clean up or mess to contend with. We leave the area broom-clean!

....All sales are conducted on a straight commission basis. There are no added fees, no hidden expenses, no extras, no surprises. We provide and pay for all labor, advertising, supplies and sale-related equipment and accessories. We market our sales via our Web Site, Private E-mail List, Craig's List, fliers, word of mouth and extensive advertising in the Los Angeles Times and local newspapers. We post signs in and around the sale neighborhood and take them down immediately after the sale. We provide the net proceeds, along with copies of all checks and receipts, within two weeks of the sale.
